Policy Statement:

Creative Performance Limited is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all children and vulnerable adults participating in our programs, as well as our staff, volunteers, and visitors. We recognise our duty of care and aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where children and all participants can engage in performing arts activities safely.

Scope:

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and participants involved in the activities of Creative Performance Limited.

Responsibilities:

1. Management:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation.

• Provide adequate resources for health and safety management.

• Review and update this policy regularly, at least annually.

2. Staff and Volunteers:

• Follow the health and safety guidelines provided.

• Report any health and safety concerns to management immediately.

• Participate in training and development programs related to health and safety.

3. Participants and Guardians:

• Adhere to the health and safety rules set by the charity.

• Report any issues or concerns to staff immediately.

Health and Safety Measures:

1. Risk Assessment:

• Conduct regular risk assessments for all activities, venues, and equipment.

• Implement and monitor control measures to mitigate identified risks.

2. First Aid:

• Ensure a first aid kit is available at all activity sites.

• Train staff and volunteers in basic first aid and emergency procedures.

• Maintain up-to-date contact information for emergency services.

3. Safeguarding:

• Implement robust safeguarding procedures to protect children from harm.

• Conduct background checks on all staff and volunteers working with children.

• Provide safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers.

4. Fire Safety:

• Ensure fire safety equipment is available and maintained.

• Conduct regular fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.

• Clearly mark and keep emergency exits unobstructed.

5. Hygiene and Cleanliness:

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all areas used by children.

• Provide hand sanitising stations and encourage good hygiene practices.

• Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces and shared equipment.

6. Supervision:

• Ensure appropriate adult-to-child ratios are maintained during all activities.

• Supervise children at all times during activities.

• Implement a sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants.

7. Incident Reporting:

• Document and report all accidents, injuries, and near misses.

• Review incident reports to identify patterns and prevent future occurrences.

• Communicate incident outcomes and corrective actions to relevant parties.

Communication:

• Clearly communicate health and safety policies and procedures to all staff, volunteers, participants, and guardians.

• Display emergency contact information and health and safety guidelines prominently at all activity sites.

Review:

This health and safety policy will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if necessary, to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with current legislation.
